Fear is a Liar

Updated: Feb 25, 2021

Have you heard this song by Zach Williams?

It is my absolute favorite song, it reminds me that I can do all things, even through fear. Have a look below at the lyrics.

♪♪ When he told you you're not good enough When he told you you're not right When he told you you're not strong enough To put up a good fight When he told you you're not worthy When he told you you're not loved When he told you you're not beautiful You'll never be enough

When he told you were troubled You'll forever be alone When he told you you should run away You'll never find a home When he told you you were dirty And you should be ashamed When he told you you could be the one That grace could never change

Fear, he is a liar He will take your breath Stop you in your steps Fear, he is a liar He will rob your rest Steal your happiness Cast your fear in the fire 'Cause fear, he is a liar

Let your fire fall and cast out all my fears Let your fire fall, your love is all I feel ♪♪

In many ways fear serves us well, it keeps us from doing things that could hurt us. It can help us make better decisions when it comes to our actual safety. But the thing to realize is that our brains were designed to use fear for survival, but we’ve evolved and no longer have danger lurking around every corner to be fearful of.

We need to realize that fear will always be part of our life, and we don’t have to be fearless to take action. When we take action while acknowledging fear, this is so powerful for us.

Most fear comes from our thoughts, typically irrational thoughts. Irrational thoughts that stop us in our tracks can be overcome by deciding not to believe the irrational thoughts causing it.

How if fear lying to you? This is what fear looked like for me after my husband died.

Any decision I made would be the wrong one.

I am a burden now to my friends and family.

I will never be happy again.

My future is hopeless.

It should have been me.

My kids loved him more than me.

I’m not loveable.

I’ll never recover from this.
